Getting Started

My kids have a T-shirt that says ‘Just Do It’

That is so appropriate for so many aspects of life including elements of finance and financial advice.

It’s really easy to keep putting things off – a bit like going to the dentist. You might be saying things like: ‘I know I should look at getting a better return on my savings’ and ‘I’ve been meaning to get my pensions sorted’ or ‘I’ve got to sort out some life assurance’ but you just keep putting it off.

Just like going to the dentist though, you might actually find that going to see a financial adviser isn’t so painful after all.  You’ll probably be really relieved you’ve finally got the problem sorted. It can seem like a big weight has been lifted from your shoulders.

However, seeking financial advice isn’t something most of us do, unlike going to a dentist. But financial advice can be accessible and finding a good financial adviser you can trust can help you make a start with what are some of the most important decisions you will make in your life.

The biggest single factor in how much pension income you have in retirement is not how well your investment choices perform or the charges…it’s how much is put into the pension in the first place. If you don’t start contributing nothing will start accumulating.

So it may be time to ‘Just Do It’ – get started with sorting out your finances, and if you feel that you need some help, find yourself a good financial adviser.
